Financial distress can lead to a number of physical ailments that vary from mild to severe. The problem with debt is that all other areas of your life can be affected by it. This means that the stress just piles up and over a long period of time, the effects of stress are disempowering at best and at worst, they can be fatal.

Although you may be unaware of it, your feelings of depression and anxiety coupled with sleepless nights and other symptoms, are affecting your ability and capacity to maintain healthy relationships, give your best at work, make wise decisions and logical judgements. Stress can also be a cause for excessive smoking and alcohol consumption, lack of exercise and bad nutritional choices. All these factors contribute to your deteriorating health.

The list of ailments and illness you risk if you do nothing to address your situation and resolve the stress and conflict surrounding your debt position is extensive.

Skin irritation, allergies, asthma, digestion and bowel problems, insomnia, depression, panic attacks, migraine headaches, high blood pressure, back and muscle pain, atherosclerosis, thrombosis, stroke, ulcers, angina and corony heart disease. There is also plenty of evidence to suggest that stress causes cancer.

If nothing on this page so far has inspired you to address the stress and debt in your life then consider the wrinkles that are becoming embedded on your face from all that frowning and take a look at the number of grey hairs that have appeared since the stress started!. What about that stomach bloating, acne and food intolerance that has turned up in your life, and what about those bags under your eyes!

We may jest, but debt and it's potential to cause stress related illnesses is no laughing matter and prevention is a whole lot better than cure.
